Some time ago, the active DesignCommunity forums were taken offline by a ransomeware attack, exploiting a vulnerability in an older version of the mySQL open source database software. A new PowerCADD forum is online here . System Note:   2013.0415.1200 PST.  The DesignCommunity forums have been rebuilt on new server hardware following a breakdown circa 2013.0408. We've encountered a significant hardware failure at the main Artifice database server, which took certain sections of Artifice web sites offline, including the DesignCommunity forums, the Archiplanet wiki, and the ArchitectureWeek blog center. A range of damage control and repair operations are currently underway, with many of these services now running from backup configurations. Please be aware that some recent updates may be missing temporarily, and some input options may be disabled temporarily, until repairs are completed. Thanks for your kind patience and support! -- Forums back in operation! We had a service outage with the DesignCommunity forums from Saturday thru Wednesday. The primary issue was isolated to an external network configuration issue that our service partners were said to have addressed early on Monday. However, additional issues, including a possible server attack or spam flood, were still impacting DesignCommunity, and technical work continued backstage. As of Wednesday, 27 February 2013, the DesignCommunity forums are functional again, at a new location where we have more direct control to keep things running. A few custom bells and whistles remain to be rebuilt. Thanks for your patience! -- System Note:   We are experiencing a service outage with the DesignCommunity forums, hosted at this site. Thanks for your patience! ~~ -- Situation Update   ·   2009.0703.1140 PDT The DesignCommunity forums database system experienced serious technical damage overnight. The damaged files were restored from backups and the forums were viewable by 10:30am PDT on Thursday, July 2, 2009. Additional problems related to message posting were primarily resolved that evening, with only a few exceptions. The DesignCommunity forums are now fully functional to the best of our knowledge. Please report serious problems to "support@artifice.com". More background details are available here , and more details on the current situation are available here . ArchitectureWeek , Archiplanet , and GreatBuildings are unaffected and these sites have been fully available. Internal forensic work on external causes of the breakdown in the DesignCommunity forums, if any, is currently underway. Please let us know if you have urgent questions. Also note that the DDoS attack on our PetitionOnline site, which started at the time of the Iran elections, still continues three weeks later.
